10 Ways You Can Use Notion To Level Up Your Life

Notion is one of the best productivity tools for students. I could say I’m a new user (I think it’s been four years now), but truthfully, it has been life-changing.

As a college student struggling to balance assignments, exams, and extracurricular activities with an active social life, Notion has become my best friend.

I will be fair. Learning how to use Notion can be tricky at first. But once you get the hang of it, I promise it will be a lifesaver.

Do you want to learn how to use Notion? Here are 10 ways you can use Notion to level up your life.

10 Smart Ways Students Can Use Notion to Stay Organized

1. Information Hub

One of my favourite characteristics of Notion is that it can store all your life quests in one place. Notion is the dashboard for all your everyday activities.

By having an organized, well-structured, and easy-to-use Notion dashboard, you will effortlessly schedule your life.

2. Goal-setting

For my 2026 goals, I decided to use Notion to help me achieve them, and let me tell you, it was the best decision.

In Notion, you can easily set goals, track them, and have quarterly reflections all in the same place.

3. Habit tracking

Sometimes, to achieve our goals, it is essential to create new habits. Notion is the perfect place to keep track of those habits.

You can track how many days you kept your habit, and set reminders so that you never forget.

4. Calendar

I am personally a paper planner girl, so I don’t really use Notion calendar (you can learn more about my planning system in this blog). However, if I ever go for an online version, Notion will 100% be my number one choice.

You can create color-coded activities and connect your calendar to in-line databases. You can even connect it to other external calendars, for example, Microsoft or Google.

5. To-do lists

One of my favourite Notion features is creating to-do lists. Yes, I love my planner, but I don’t take it wherever I go. That’s when Notion comes in handy.

I can easily create to-do lists within different pages. That way, when the time comes to work on that subject, I have everything ready.

I used to use phone notes for my to-do lists, but eventually I would forget about them or start working without my phone nearby. By writing down my to-do list in Notion, that problem was instantly solved.

6. Project management

As a college student, it is paramount to keep track of my assignments and projects. With Notion databases, you can set reminders, set priorities, and automate your planning system.

7. Note-taking

Another perk of using Notion is having all my college notes in the same place. I used to use Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, but I found Notion most suitable for my note-taking style.

In Notion, it is effortless to have aesthetic notes, which, personally, helps a ton in my study motivation. Having aesthetic notes makes studying much more enjoyable!

8. Journaling

One of my 2026 goals is to journal every day, and what better place than Notion to do that? I have created a database where I can easily log my days and have instant access to previous logs.

9. Financial tracker

Using Notion as your financial tracker is for more advanced users. So far, I have found it difficult to find a well-programmed Notion financial template. However, once you get the hang of Notion, I believe you can create a suitable template for finance tracking.

Personally, I don’t think I am at that point yet. I have had several trials and errors creating a good template, and I think it will still take me more time.

However, in the meantime, I am using Google Sheets to track my finances, and I am very happy with my results. If you are looking for a budget template, you can get my financial tracker here.

10. Miscellaneous information

As I have previously stated, Notion is the best place to gather all your information. Apart from work, college, or finance, you can use Notion to store everyday information.

For example, you can keep track of your reading journey, create meal plans, recipes, or watchlists. You can have anything you can think about, or nearly anything, in Notion.
