Trauma, Healing, and the Best ACOTAR Romance

A Court of Silver Flames is the most emotionally intense and divisive book in the ACOTAR series, and after finishing this review, I understand exactly why.

After going through a roller coaster of emotions, I can declare that I have finished reading A Court of Silver Flames. I’m truly heartbroken about finishing the ACOTAR series. Sarah J. Maas has created a masterpiece with this fantasy saga.

ACOTAR mainly revolved around Rhysand and Feyre. We saw them grow, mature, and be happy together. However, I think we can all agree that the best couple, by far, is Nesta and Cassian. I don’t think I have ever read about a couple with such chemistry before. Cassian’s presence alone radiates intensity and desire.

A Court of Silver Flames centers on Nesta and Cassian. After A Court of Frost and Starlight, we knew that Nesta was emotionally unraveling. She was suffering from trauma, yet she drove every loved one away. She got into a deep hole and struggled to get out. This last novel tells her story: how she overcame her inner demons, opened up to happiness again, and (spoiler alert!) how they lived happily ever after.

Through Nesta’s journey, A Court of Silver Flames teaches one of the most important lessons in life: everybody needs help. Even though we believe that we are strong enough to overcome any problem ahead, reality is far from that statement. We need to rely on our family and friends, because if not, life gets too hard. Life should be lived, not survived.

Nevertheless, what makes A Court of Silver Flames stand out is Nesta and Cassian’s love story. They had been developing tension since the second book, A Court of Mist and Fury. Let’s be fair, Nesta and Cassian portray one of the strongest enemies-to-lovers romances in modern fantasy.

All in all, A Court of Silver Flames is, from my humble point of view, the best ACOTAR book. From brutal training scenes to emotionally raw confrontations, A Court of Silver Flames balances action with deeply personal character growth.

This last book is a clear example of a good, strong, and “realistic” (in terms of fantasy) storyline. We get to understand the characters, feel their emotions so deeply that we cry (yes, I admit I cried with Nesta😭).

I can proudly declare that A Court of Silver Flames has entered my top 3 favourite books.

Did Nesta’s journey work for you, or do you still prefer Feyre as the heart of the ACOTAR series?
