Our Beloved Summer

A sincere portrait of adulthood and its struggles
I was expecting “Our Beloved Summer” to be another easy-watching series: too much going on, but nothing that makes the difference. Now, do not get me wrong. I love this series. In fact, the less I think about a series, the better it is. Although, this is not valid for all series. It is only a tendency I have found in the series I have liked. For me, series are for disconnecting, not to think.
However, “Our Beloved Summer” is different. After finishing it, I found myself reconsidering all the choices I have made so far. Not in a deficient way, but questioning if the life I have is the one I want (I do not know if that makes sense, but it was a positive feeling).
What makes this series stand out is, by far, the development the protagonists have. “Our Beloved Summer” is not just another drama with cliche characters, cliche problems, and a cliche finale (although the ending was foreseeable). It is more than that. I could actually feel how the protagonists could feel, their struggles, and how they overcame their problems. “Our Beloved Summer” felt real, and I loved it.
Overall, I loved how subtly yet effectively this series portrays the difficulties of adulthood. “Our Beloved Summer” is a different drama, but not necessarily worse. It certainly deserves a chance.
