The Legend of The Blue Sea

A bland yet funny series
I don’t know what to say about this series. It is good, but I have watched better ones.
It’s true that “The Legend of the Blue Sea” has great actors (I mean, Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun are some of the most popular and awarded Korean actors you can find), but the series is pretty bland. Certain scenes make over the rest, but it’s not a series that I’ve liked.
I had watched Lee Min Ho before in “The Heirs,” and taking into account that series, it wasn’t difficult to live up to my expectations. About Jun Ji Hyun, it was the first time I was watching her acting, and I liked her a lot. She gives queen vibes.
I think the best part of this series is its comedy. Some scenes are hilarious and unforgettable. You will agree with me once you watch “The Legend of the Blue Sea.” Jun Ji Hyun has done a great job being the most awkward yet funny character I have ever known (competing for first place against Veronica Park from “The Secret Life of My Secretary”).
If you want a relaxing and funny series, “The Legend of the Blue Sea” can be a good option. However, it won’t be my number one recommendation.
Synopsis
Sometime during August, 1598, newly appointed governor Dam Ryung stays for a night at an inn run by Mr. Yang. During that evening, Mr. Yang shows Dam Ryung a captured mermaid named Sim Chung. Later that night, Dam Ryung releases her into the ocean and, before she swims away, Sim Chung reaches out her hand to Dam Ryung which he briefly holds.
In the present day, Joon-Jae is a smooth talking conman with magician like abilities. He works with Nam-Doo and Tae-O. For their next score, Joon-Jae impersonates a prosecutor and swindles a large amount of money from a wealthy suspect’s mother. Joon-Jae then travels abroad and stays at an oceanside resort. Meanwhile, Sim Chung is swept up in a tidal wave and washed ashore near the oceanside resort. She sees Joon-Jae. ~AsianWiki
