Bridgerton Season 2 Review

Anthony & Kate’s Enemies-to-Lovers Story
Let’s start from the beginning. Netflix’s Bridgerton series comes from Julia Quinn’s saga. It follows the children of the Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton as they navigate London’s competitive marriage season.
The second season of the Bridgerton series centers on the firstborn son of the Bridgerton family, Anthony Bridgerton. It originates from the second book of Julia Quinn’s saga “The Viscount Who Loved Me”.
If the first season was more of a “fake relationship that turns real” trope, this second season is definitely an “enemies-to-lovers” story. The hatred. The anger. The unbearable tension. It’s intoxicating.
Anthony, as the firstborn son of a Viscount, is expected to marry and carry on the legacy. He has lived his life as a “rake”, but now it’s time to fulfill his duty and get married. However, one thing is clear: he won’t have a love marriage. In fact, love can’t be part of the marriage. Not after what happened with his father.
After witnessing his father’s sudden death, Anthony associates love with unbearable loss. To him, loving deeply means risking devastation.
Edwina Sharma has been named the Diamond of the Season by the Queen herself. She came to London with her mother and sister, Kate Sharma, to find a suitable gentleman and get married.
Anthony convinces himself that Edwina is the “perfect” choice, logical, beautiful, and appropriate. But we all know he is lying to himself. However, he didn’t expect to encounter any problem until he met Kate Sharma. Now, he will have to fight his own romance and desire; one, to stop himself from loving Kate Sharma, and two, to get her blessing and be able to marry Edwina.
Netflix once again proves it knows exactly how to deliver a visually stunning, emotionally addictive period romance.
The cast, the music (because yes, Bridgerton’s soundtrack is really good), and the aesthetic. Everything is perfect. However, what makes this season stand out from the rest is the tension. The way Kate and Anthony look at each other is haunting.
I think the first season is still my favourite, mainly because I really liked Edwina and felt deeply for her character. If not, in terms of production, the second season of the Bridgertons is the best one.
So, is Bridgerton Season 2 better than Season 1? For me, it wins in tension and production value, but Season 1 still holds my heart.
Synopsis
The second season of Bridgerton follows Lord Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest Bridgerton sibling and viscount, as he sets out to find a suitable wife. Driven by his duty to uphold the family name, Anthony’s search for a debutante who meets his impossible standards seems ill-fated until Kate and her younger sister Edwina Sharma arrive from India. When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — a true love match is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides. Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.
